OK, it’s not often a story makes me cry, but this one does. Will is the sheriff in a small town in the South named Menton. Mabel is an author who has rented a house to write her next book. Menton has a few old-fashioned customs. The biggest one we must mention is that every woman must have some male who is responsible for her. So, Will, who knows Mabel from college fights to be the man responsible for her. Will calls her Maebelle and frequently tells her to “Mind me, Mae!” Through all this Mae and Will fall in love. The way he cares for did make me cry a few times. Also, I need to let you know that the discipline in this story is pretty severe. Deserved, but severe. I give this story 5 stars! I didn't like it. First off, I understand that this is a "domestic discipline" theme, and that's ok. What I didn't like was that it was just an excuse for discipline scenes that were getting progressively worse. Going from a spanking to cutting your own switches 5 at a time because they were being broken on you and doing it over a period of 3 or more sessions and worrying about whether or not your skin would scar is not "loving discipline". The sheriff came off more as a controlling jerk rather than a loving partner by wanting her to chart her every movement 24/7. The whole ex-boyfriend thing was pretty anticlimactic as well.
i hated this book! I don't care how you look at it this is not a marriage in any compacity. i hate that she was so weak she just accepted the "punishments" from the very beginning. There was only pain in all of that. What was the reward? There was none.
I love everything about this. A good beginner type of book. Love love love this. Cute story! Buy it! Please!
This is a story that takes place in a southern town in which everyone practices DD to some extent. Mabel quickly falls in love with the town sheriff, Will, who she knew during her college days. There are twists and turns along the way and the journey is enjoyable but sometimes the discipline seemed harsh.
This book was a bit too abusive for my taste. I found Mae's "protector" was not protecting her at all. It was extremely violent and I just can't recommend it. This could have bee a fairly good story but the abuse totally turned me off.
Mabel has come to town to write her new book and lands herself in a situation she wasn't quite prepared for. But there is Will who she knew when a college Freshman and wasn't prepared for the fact that he liked her even then. But as she adjusts to life in Menton she learns that she can count on Will to give her what she needs to help her be successful and cared for. She also learns her tough enough to do what it takes to keep her safe from the bad guys.
I gave the book four stars because I liked the characters. This was definitely a spanking romance almost more spanking than romance. I would have liked some sex scenes that featured spanking and dominance to be added to the story. I would like the storyline with Mae's ex-boyfriend expanded so that Will could deal with him. A better explanation of what was going on with the task force would be good as well. I really liked the discussions Will and Mae had about the spanking lifestyle and how the women were protected from abuse. Will was a very dominant man but he could backup if he was wrong and admit it.
