If I could give this negative stars I would. What the heck trash is this? I couldn't even force myself to finish the first book.The men are chauvinistic with "revolving doors of women" and the women just accept it.
Half the book is about how Jenny is slumming with lowly blue-collars in lowly blue-collar activities. And because Reid doesn't like them, Jenny convinces herself she doesn't either.
More than once Reid, the supposed hero, tells Jenny that if she dresses like a wh*re she should expect to be treated like one. And then Jenny agrees with him!
The author breaks from the story to make it a point for a waitress to tell Jenny that she's going to get fat if she eats what she ordered and she needs to watch her figure if she hopes to keep Reid interested.
Then Jenny's big secret for leaving is that her adoptive brother was harboring incestuous thoughts and SHE didn't want to tarnish the family. So Reid tells her to just keep it to herself and apologize for running away anyway?!? Seriously?
There is NO WAY all those 5 star reviews are legitimate. This book is so absolutely ridiculous it astounds me.

This is the first of two Forever Yours Box Sets by Helen Conrad. There are a total of six books about the Destiny Bay Carrington family. Books 1-3 are about the Richard Carrington family and books 4-6 about Dr. Stephen Carrington. Richard and Stephen are brothers. What an interesting diverse family. All of these books can be stand-a-lone and purchased separately but they are much better when read as a series beginning with book one. All of these books are well written and enjoyable. The first thing I noted was every chapter has an interesting title. The next thing is that EVERY book begins with a Cast of Characters. Can you believe that! I just love it!! This way I don't need to spend time flipping through the book trying to find out why a name is familiar or who the person might be.
Make Believe Wife, in box set two, is my favorite for a variety of reasons. Should I tell you what those reasons are? No, I'm sure you would much rather read the book yourself. Right? Anyhow all of the stories are worthy of reading, in my opinion. There is also a recurring love triangle running within each book about Mickey (female), Tag and Richard. Helen Conrad makes us wait until the last book is almost over to tell us how this triangle plays out. Would I recommend these books? If you don't mind having love scenes in your books, you'll love them or see note below. If you would rather not purchase the box set, each book is also sold separately. Happy Reading!!
NOTE Destiny Bay Romances - The Sweet Additions Box Set 1-3 is now available. These are basically the same stories about the lives and loves of the wealthy, powerful Carrington family that are found in Destiny Bay Romances- Forever Yours, but with the conflicts softened a bit, the language cleaned up, and no explicit love scenes. There are still a few adult situations, but they're muted. Consider these the PG versions.
1970's all over again. It felt like Harlequin Presents and I was waiting for Reid to say to Jennifer, "You silly little twit, of course I love you."
Over the top Alpha male with a light switch on his emotions.
A female protagonist who lets him dominate her any way he wants, and not in the hot way you're fantasizing.
Head-hopping p.o.v.
And what the hell moments everywhere.
Have these people never heard of communicating before?
Obviously, if these books are doing well, there's a better audience out there for Ms. Conrad's writing than me. To each her own.
The three "heroes" in these books are not likeable men, so I find it unlikely the ladies would fall so completely for them. The ladies are not all strong women but they certainly could have had enough backbone to stand up to these guys. They don't give up on them, but I'm not sure why. The last couple in book 3 were particularly awful for each other. The gal should have taken her belongings and headed for home and stayed away from the toxic relationship provided by the race car driver. They only time the ladies showed any gumption was in the epilog of book three.
I'm assuming one of the next books has the "hero" as Tag introduced in this boxed set. He's already shown his antisocial colors and is someone to stay away from.
I'll not be buying any other books in this series nor by this author.
While I hardly ever write reviews on books, this one disturbed me so much I felt I had to. The book itself isn't badly written, but the content is so outdated I wondered if it had been published in 1953 instead of 2013. Honestly.... SPOILER! The book that I read from this collection was "My Little Runaway" - I couldn't stomach reading any others. There are so many instances of sexist behaviour from the male protagonist (Reid) towards the female character (Jenny) it's hard to count. He forcibly and phsyically takes her away despite her repeated objections, he berates her constantly for her behaviour, he assaults her (when a woman repeated says "No" and the man continues anyway, it's assault), when she is objectified by a friend of Reid's she ends up feeling badly for their rift, she is chastised for not fitting into the upper crust scene... the whole book is one antiquated cliché after another. Thank goodness it didn't cost me any money! Save yours. Sorry Ms. Conrad, but join me in this century.
I really tried to have an open mind when reading all 3 of these books.However it was just not possible,the leading men are first class JERKS and the women are whining,indecisive,airheads.The first book was so bad I skipped to the end and it just got worse from there.I cannot stand when authors paint the leading lady as some cowering,lovesick,abuse me and I will keep coming back for more with a smile on my face female.If you like verbally abusive men and brainless women then this is a series for you.
